More than 1,000 charities apply for next phase in £1m funding

Ten charities are set to be awarded £50,000 each this autumn through the second phase of a £1m award scheme.

The Movement for Good Awards has already seen 500 charities receive £1,000 grants and the second phase of the scheme will see a further £500,000 given away.

The second phase sees more than 1,000 applications whittled down to 10 winners, who will all receive £50,000 each.

Judging is taking place during September and October with the winners announced on October 12.

The Movement for Good Awards is run by charity insurers Ecclesiastical.

“We’ve had more than 1,000 applications from charities for the £50k awards and we’re in the process of whittling them down to 20 for our judging panel to decide the winners,” said an Ecclesiastical spokesman.

“We were overwhelmed by the response from charities who submitted their applications to our £50,000 awards,” said Ecclesiastical.

“We’re actively championing innovation through these grants, giving charities the backing they need to propel their plans forward and helping to turn creative ideas into practical solutions that benefit society.”
