Cognus Ltd is about education - we exist to support schools, families and children/young people to access, enjoy and thrive in educational settings in school and in the community. We are a successful start-up that spun out from the London Borough of Sutton in November 2016 as a standalone limited company. Our main shareholder remains the London Borough of Sutton, but we also invite schools to become shareholders in our company.

Our services are structured into three main areas:

• Advice and Support - working with schools and families to support children and young people to access and enjoy education, at school, at home or in other settings
• Access - providing teaching and educational psychology expertise to support teachers, teaching assistants, parents/carers and others in developing their practice and confidence, and working with small groups or individual children and young people to understand and support their particular needs and talents.
• Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEN) - supporting those with special educational needs, their families/carers and schools to provide advice, advocacy and training as well as the provision of home to school transport and other practical help.

We are now looking for a Head of People. This is a new role sitting on the senior management team, and will take a lead role in defining and developing our organisational culture as an independent, commercial yet values-driven organisation.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrable track record of success in transformational HR and people development, strong commercial awareness, and HR experience or a qualification in managing policy, procedure, administration and HR related law and practice.

If you feel that you have the relevant skill set and experience to be placed in this role, please send your up-to-date CV to for consideration. Please note that only successful candidates will be contacted further.
